Round 3 saw us travel to Toukley in a bid to repair the pain
of losing, despite making 297, the week before.

Greg Hales once again proved the biggest problem for the
opposition bowlers scoring 150 not out in an inning where luck was on his side,
after being dropped first ball of the innings.

Halesey’s success at attacking
rubbed off on his partners, who unfortunately couldn’t repeat his actions. At
one point sitting 5/68 (Hales scoring 53 of them) you could have forgiven those
watching for thinking we’re in trouble, but then up steps Brad Prisk. Prisk and
Hales helped push the total close to 200 in a 120 run partnership, finally as
he closed in on a maiden half century Prisk was out going for the big shot,
caught for 48.

Hales continued on, giving chance after chance, almost
begging to get out so he could have a break. No break was to come though and we
pushed on to a total of 7/245.

Toukley came out swinging knowing the total would take
almost 6 an over to chase down, but brilliant bowling from James White (2-25)
and Rod Ursem (2-26) kept the challengers under
extreme pressure. Ryan Morgan chipped in at the end and helped knock over the
tail with 3-15. The fielding of Daniel Coates was another highlight,
he took 2 catches, one diving full stretch forward catching it low to the
ground.

Toukley were restricted to 142 giving us our first win of
the season and with plenty of positives for the upcoming rounds.
