It was
the first game of the season and the
boys were raring to go.
Unfortunately they got off to a
rocky start with three early
wickets, due to some excellent
bowling by Terrigal. Once they
settled down, some good partnerships
were formed with Jake Stone and Sam
Webb, putting on a couple of runs.
It was then time for Tom Herron and
Damien McCarey to have a go, with
each of them scoring their first run
for the season. Calvin
Beacroft got the boys off to a good
start bowling two wickets in his
first two overs. He also had
great bowling figures of 2/3,
including a maiden over. His wickets
were also thanks to Cory Sharma
Constance, who showed off his
catching skills, and a second catch
taken by Conor O'Dwyer & Eamon
O'Callaghan in a combined effort.
Other wickets were bowled by Ryan
Craig and Cory Sharma Constance, so
well done boys. Also thanks to
Tyson Robertson and Sam Webb for
their wicket keeping during this
first match and Conor Hingerty for
being the non-batsman for the week.
Thanks to Sean for his dedication to
the team.
We
look forward to seeing the boys
improve over the next few weeks,
with an aim to improve running
between the wickets and increased
accuracy with the bowling.
See
you at training on Tuesday.
Round 2 Kincumber Red 48 lost
to Mountains 3/110
Another tough match against
Mountains, for the boys who are
still finding their feet, not helped
by rained out training session.
Some highlights from the game were
wickets taken by Ryan & Riley,
thanks to great catching by the two
Conors. Also, the run out by
Lee was great to see. The
batting was improved on the previous
week with more runs scored off the
bat. Thanks to Tom & Eamon for
wicket keeping. Hope to see
you all at training this week.
Round 3 Kincumber Red 3/86
defeated Wyong 6/73
It was great for the boys to have a
win this week. Batting was much
improved this, with some good
partnerships. Of note was the
partnership between Tom Herron &
Conor O'Dwyer for 38, surviving 12
overs and getting us off to a good
start. The boys were batting well,
so to share it around, there were
some retirements made, which was
great to see. On the bowling side
it was excellent to note that the
no-balls reduced considerably, which
helped them to win the game. Thanks
to Sean's dad for helping out at
training, obviously a great
opportunity for the boys to get some
one on one coaching.
Round 4 Kincumber Red
8/46 lost to Woy Woy 1/96
Arriving at Davistown on Saturday,
it was disappointing to see that the
ground had been taken to overnight
by vandals and the grass was very
torn up. The boys were excited to
be playing in their new shirts, and
looked the part. It was a tough
match, with the Woy Woy team having
some strong batsmen & bowlers. To
be fair to all the players Sean has
been retiring the boys after they
have faced a few overs, which is a
good tactic at this age, giving as
many kids a bat as possible from
week to week and keeping them
interested. Performances to note
were from Riley who managed to get a
wicket, assisted by Ryans catch, and
he also bowled a maiden with great
figures of 1/4 from 3 overs. Jake
and Tyson also bowled really well.
Look forward to seeing you all at
training again for some one on one
coaching.
Round
5 Kincumber Red
8/78 lost to Umina Red 1/104
Round
6 Kincumber Red
4/74 lost to Umina Red 5/88
Round
7 Kincumber Red
7/48 lost to The Entrance 3/125
Well
done to all the boys for getting up
so early to get to Mannering Park in
time for the game. The boys batted
well against a very impressive
Entrance attack. Congratulations to
Riley Edwards for his retirement
score of 15, only the second one for
the team this season. His innings
included three 4's, one of which was
very close to a 6. Bad luck to
Damien, who managed to get a few
runs, but was run-out with the
effort to build our score. The
Entrance had some very impressive
bowling figures. When it was our
turn to bowl there were good wickets
taken by Tom Herron and Tyson
Robertson. Unfortunately our
no-balls and wide totals were still
quite high and we all need lots of
practice to reduce these figures.
The boys also need to make sure they
take the opportunity to run when
they get a chance, rather than
admiring their lovely shots!
